Black Friday Shopping Vlog

Happy Sunday! I just wanted to show you all some photos from my Black Friday shopping trip (although I did not shop that much because I prefer online shopping). I only went to go in H&M because I always see nice things that people buy from there. However, the store wasn’t exactly what I was expecting.

Anywho, below is a thanksgiving/shopping vlog and below that are pictures from MAC, Sephora, and Guess. The bottom two photos are bags from Michael Kors (a brand that I absolutely LOVE). I’ll show the things I bought soon. Stay tuned!

Love, Brittany ❤

Trend Alert | Black and White Color Blocking

 Trend Alert: Black and White

Day before yesterday, I was taking a look at the new Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 collection and there were a lot of black and white items. Yesterday, as I was stalking the internet and getting my shopping carts ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I also noticed a lot of black and white items, mainly dresses; hence, trend alert :).

I think the dresses are very chic and as I’m getting older, about to graduate in less than a year, I’m incorporating more mature pieces into my wardrobe. For those of you thinking, “my gosh, black and white is so plain,” you can pair these items with bright colored shoes or purse to spice it up.

If these were shirts, you could pair it with a colored pant or skirt. Picture a black and white top, with a red (or any other bold color) pencil skirt that hits below the knee, black pointed toe pumps, and simple gold accessories. I’m getting excited just thinking about it :). In fact, I think I might wear a similar outfit this Christmas.

The items in the photo above are as follows.

1. Belle Curve Black and White Dress – lulus.com

2. Illusion Pencil Dress – topshop.com

3. Contrast Jacquard Dress – forever21.com

4. Get In Shapes Black and White Leggings – lulus.com

5. City Classified Yappy Patent Cap-Toe Flats – lulus.com

I also found some other items that I thought were pretty eye-catching. The dresses in the photo below are on the pricier side, but the Pintuck Coated Jersey Dress (left) is gorgeous and unlike any dress I’ve seen recently because it has a ‘wet faux leather look’ on the sides. The Wide Multistripe Sweater Dress is perfect for the working gal along with black stockings and some pumps.

Trend: Black and White Dresses

The photo below features a contrast lapel blazer that is pretty basic and will go with almost anything in your closet. I absolutely love the two boots at the right of the picture; the one at the top are black toe cap anle boots from Dorothy Perkins, one my favorite online stores. You can’t see it that well in the photo, but the shoe features a snake-skin island platform, and the pattern is also on the back of the boot – it gives people a reason to stare. 🙂

The boot at the bottom is from Truth or Dare by Madonna, and is called the feline platform pump. I really like some of the shoes from this line, like these, which I believe is exclusively sold at Macy’s. I also found another black and white shoe that is not photo’d below: Ivanka Trump Barina Platform Pumps. They’re patent leather so they offer some shine. 🙂

Finally, the black canvas tote is by BCBGMAXAZRIA and I just love this brand! I recently got one of their popular bracelets for my birthday. Click here if you’re interested in seeing it.

Hope you enjoyed the items I found! I think it’s time for me to hit the sac because I’m beginning to mistype simple words and my lids feel like lead.

All the Best, Brittany

More Black and White

New Lippies and other drugs…

There are some things in life that make me smile. Buying new lipsticks is one of them. I purchased these items a long time ago, but I’m finally getting to make this post and share my purchases with you guys.

I did not take individual pictures of the yes to cucumbers hypoallergenic facial towelettes or the milani eye tech liquid liner, but I’d give them 4 and 3 stars respectively. The towelettes are very soft and take off makeup really well. I sometimes use them when I’m too lazy to wash my face and they get the job done! The milani liner is not the best liner so I wouldn’t recommend this if you are experienced in applying liquid liner because the colour payoff is not the best.

However, if you’re a newbie like me, then this is a nice start. I believe the key to using this product is to hold the applicator to the side, that way you can actually get the product onto your lid. Otherwise, it does not work.

The photo above features two of my favourite false eyelashes: Ardell Lashes in 105 (left) and Revlon Beyond Natural Professional Lashes (right). I wear the Ardell lashes when I want a more dramatic look, that is, when I’m going to the club or to a party 🙂 (I wore them in this video), and I wear the Revlon lashes for an everyday look because they look very natural (I wore them in this video).

I decided to give the CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer a try after hearing one of my favorite makeup YouTubers, lilpumpkinpie05, rave about it. The colour I got was “ebony bronze” and I use it to contour my cheeks, jaw and forehead (watch this video at 3:06 to see what I mean).

Now for the fun stuff! The lipsticks I purchased were Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in colour number 04, Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in “Berry Haute” , and CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in “Euphoria”. I love all of these lipsticks; they’re already apart of my favourite lipstick collection because I don’t really but lipsticks unless I’ve done my research on them. They go on really easily and colour payoff is great, especially for the price!

Below are some swatches; The first one is not photo’d above: it’s Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in “Va va violet”. To the right of that is the rimmel kate 04 followed by berry haute and euphoria (I have on euphoria in this video). As you can see “va va violet” is pretty similar to “rimmel kate 04” (which is also similar to the Azalia Banks MAC lipstick “Yung Rapunzel”). These are all dupes for each other so there’s no need to spend extra money if it’s not necessary (These were on sale when I bought them so that’s my excuse 🙂 ). Oh! Berry Haute is a bit of a dupe for MAC’s “Up the Amp”.

Thanks for reading! ❤ Brittany

BASS Approved | Rita Ora at 2012 EMAs

Just this past Sunday, all the stars put on their Sunday best for the EMA’s and Rita just happened to show up and slayed in this gown by Marchesa

Rita, girl you better work like you need to pay that rent! Given that the last BASS Approved post featured Naomie Harris in a lace dress, I think it’s safe to say that I love lace.

This dress could have gone horribly wrong; it’s big, it’s loud, and it’s all one color. However, I believe it works because of the different textures. The bold lace at top is intricate and eye-catching (scroll down and take a look at the bottom picture #gag), but the tan of her skin offsets the ‘inyofaceness’ of the red at the bottom; In other words, it’s not too much red.

The large band of fabric separating the top of the dress from the bottom accentuates her waistline and gives the dress shape. If if weren’t there ____________(fill in the blank) (2pts.) #CollegeGirl

Paired with simple makeup: a red lip, winged eyeliner, and bombshell blonde hair, this look was bound to be a hit.

Finally, no matter how you flip it, dip it, turn it, or twist it, Rita is wearing this dress, it is not wearing her.

Much love,
Brittany

Indulging in fashion is not just a luxury; it can also transform how you look and how you think of yourself.  While many women are not comfortable putting a huge emphasis on how they look, it is perfectly acceptable to embrace your full potential and to show up to every engagement looking fabulous and confident.

Women who feel confident are more social and perform better in work and school scenarios. Investing in a few pieces of beautiful new fall fashions and using accessories to pull fashionable looks together will help you to uncover a more beautiful and more confident you this fall season! This year, retro pleated skirts are great investments to pair with feminine jackets, leggings, and chic women’s shoes

You can choose several of these affordable skirts in different colors and match them with a large, vintage belt for maximum effect.  These skirts are ideal items to add to any wardrobe collection due to how flexible they are.

Leather SkirtRetro, pleated skirts work perfectly for any casual date, and you can also dress them up by adding a delicate gold necklace, high heels and a sophisticated button-up blouse.  This type of look is a perfect setting to add on a loop neck scarf.  If you’re feeling in a rustic mood, slip into a vintage denim blazer and add a pair of old-fashioned cowgirl boots to completely transform the look of the outfit.

Untitled #6Another great look that I think is a must-have for any gal’s closet for this fall season is a couple of great cardigans.  Everyone knows the temperatures drop in the latter months of the year.
We can all pretend we will avoid going to bulky clothing in order to remain stylish.  However, you can wrap up in warmth this fall by adding a beautiful, long cardigan that drapes in the front to your wardrobe.

These cardigans are available in a rainbow of colors and some patterns for cardigans also include retro patterns that are stylish and sophisticated.  Cable knit sweaters, curly, bouncing hair and fabulous shoes and boots are another way to turn heads this year as you take the autumn season by storm.  If you have never stepped out boldly in the latest fashions, now is your chance and you can do it on a budget!

This Week in Lust | Black, Gold, and Mint

Happy Friday everyone! It is every fashionista’s dream to be able to buy anything the heart desires, but as a semi-broke college student, that’s just not going to fly for me. Today, I’m starting a series of posts, “This Week Lust”, where I’ll showcase items that caught my eye that week. Comment below! I’d love to hear what you think!

BASS Approved: Naomie Harris in Dolce and Gabbana

What. Is. Air? Naomie Harris was servin’ like the last fashion queen last week at the Skyfall movie premiere in Rome. (The delay in writing this post was caused by my inability to pick my bottom lip up off the floor when I first saw this picture)

Who is She?

Naomie Harris is an English actress best known for her lead role as Selena in 28 Days Later, her supporting role as Calypso in Pirates of the Caribbean two and three (I know… she cleaned up nice), and most recently Miss Moneypenny in the newest James Bond film, Skyfall.

Who is She Wearing?

The $4675 lace gown she dons is by Dolce and Gabbana and can be found on here and here.

One would die if given the opportunity to wear this dress.

Why do you like it so much Brittany?

Sometimes lace can go oh so very wrong when there’s too much going on, but this… this vintage and elegant work of art is an ode to class.  The lace is obviously intricately crafted and modernized, it doesn’t look like my grandmother’s living room curtains.

Secondly, I got a love way deep down in my heart for bold colours, I love bold, rich colours, and this my friends is bold and rich (I know,  overkill, sorry). The dark toned teal is also perfect for the fall season. Though the gown looks lovely atop her bronze skin, my only wish is that the dress was lined with fabric the same colour as the dress.

Lastly, Ms. Harris is working the hell out of this dress, the dress isn’t working her. Her confidence (peep the look on her face and the hands on waist) is what really drew me into the picture. Her makeup is flawless and her hair is laid for the gods. What more can one ask for?

Many women have worn lace dresses, and many more will after Naomie, but none will look exactly like her. Hence, this look is BASS approved.

xoxo,
Brittany
